Source and issues on GitHub | ## What Entri does well Entri covers far more DNS providers than DomainKit does. If your customers use Namecheap, GoDaddy, Route 53, Squarespace, or Porkbun, Entri's list includes them and DomainKit does not. Entri is a finished, hosted flow. You mint a token, call one function, and get a modal that detects the provider, signs the customer in, and applies the records. It has a webhook for when records resolve. Entri also sells the pieces around it, such as SSL and root-domain hosting. Entri's site shows Webflow and Twilio as customers. If a vendor SLA and a name your security team recognizes matter to you, Entri answers both. ## What DomainKit does differently DomainKit is a library, so the flow lives in your app. Your database holds the connections, your key seals the credentials, and your session decides who can approve. There is no separate vendor holding those tokens. The customer approves an exact plan. Each record is marked Will add, Already set, or Conflict before anything is written, and the approval covers that plan's digest. If the zone changes in between, apply stops. DomainKit keeps a receipt of each write and plans cleanup from it, so removing records later is as reviewed as adding them was. It costs nothing per domain. The cost is your own engineering time to integrate and run it. ## Choose which ### Choose Entri when - Your customers are spread across many registrars. - You want a hosted flow live quickly, without writing server routes or storage. - You want a vendor with a support contract. - You also need domain purchase, SSL, or root-domain hosting from the same vendor. ### Choose DomainKit when - Most of your customers use Cloudflare or Vercel for DNS. - You want credentials and rows in your own database. - You want the customer to review and approve an exact plan, with a receipt. - You want the flow to look and behave like the rest of your product. ## Using both The two aren't exclusive. Some teams will use DomainKit for customers on Cloudflare or Vercel and a hosted service for the rest. DomainKit doesn't integrate with Entri, so you choose the path in your own UI. ## Questions to ask any vendor - Where are my customers' provider credentials stored, and for how long? - What does my customer see before a record is written? - What happens when a record already exists at that name? - Which providers are covered today, and how is that list maintained? - What happens to my customers' setup if I leave? ## FAQ **Is DomainKit an Entri alternative?** It solves the same problem, letting customers connect a domain without copying DNS records, for a smaller set of providers and with a different model. DomainKit is a library you run. Entri is a service you call. **Does DomainKit cost anything?** No. It's MIT-licensed with no per-domain fee. Entri's published price starts at $249 a month for the Startup plan, with higher tiers by quote. **Does DomainKit cover my customers' registrars?** Only Cloudflare and Vercel today.
